Teresa Schneider studied psychology (BSc.) at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and graduated with a Master of Science in Legal Psychology from Maastricht University in 2015. Her master's thesis dealt with the question of whether feelings of guilt increase the probability of a false confession.
After working for two years as a psychosocial trial facilitator and accompanying witnesses to court hearings, she started her Ph.D. at Philipps University Marburg and Maastricht University in 2018. In her research, she investigates how situational factors can influence voluntary false confessions to protect another person. In addition, since 2017 she has been completing a postgraduate part-time Master's degree in legal psychology at the Psychological University of Applied Sciences Berlin and works on expert reports in testimonial psychology.
